Magela Baudoin

Bolivia, 1973

Journalist, writer and professor.

Throughout her 20 year career in journalism, she has published articles, reports, interviews and columns in different newspapers, weeklies and magazines in Bolivia such as La Razón, La Prensa and Nueva Crónica.

She has a masters in Journalistic, Institutional and Business Communication specializing in Corporate Communication. She is the founder and coordinator of the Creative Writing programme at the Private University of Santa Cruz.

Her first book, Mujeres de costado (Women on the Side, Plural, 2010) was literary journalism; a collection of interviews with controversial Bolivian women. With El sonido de la H (The Sound of H, Santillana, 2015), she won the 16th Alfaguara National Prize for the Novel in 2014 while La composición de la sal (The Composition of Salt, Plural, 2014) won the Gabriel García Márquez Spanish-American Short-Story Prize in 2015.
